Answers from the 'Canada is Getting its Own Climate Week' webinar
In case you missed it, GLOBE hosted a fantastic webinar on behalf of CCWX on April 16. Titled, Canada is Getting its Own Climate Week, the webinar featured prominent speakers Catherine Abreu and Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson, followed by a Q&A session with CCWX Founding Members. Many questions were received from participants, so we've compiled a summary of answers below. Format
How is Canada going to move from talk into action?
How will CCWX ensure women’s voices and gender perspectives are included?
Do you foresee support for interpretation for English and French sessions?
How do you coordinate overlapping events, and will there be an online hub that tracks events across the country?
CCWX emphasizes action-oriented outcomes, as stated in our goal and event eligibility. Action and diversity are key considerations in the CCWX application evaluation, while event organizers determine event format, including the language(s) spoken.
All official events are centrally hosted on the CCWX website with filters by date, location (if applicable), and format. A rich pool of events will provide Canadians with activities that match interests and accessibility options.Â
Support
Does CCWX provide marketing support for events held throughout the week?
Are the events self-funded?Â
CCWX promotes all approved events through its website, newsletter and social channels. Event hosts are provided with a marketing guide and a logo suite once their application is approved. This includes a CCWX event badge for their own marketing channels and details on how to issue a free press release through our newswire sponsor, TMX Newsfile.
CCWX does not charge a fee for qualifying events. There is no minimum requirements on the scale or format of events enabling hosts to self-fund simple, low-cost events.
Collaboration
Is there a forum or repository where various stakeholders can connect to co-host events, partner, locate sponsors or find venues? Is CCWX open to the possibility of partnering with non-Canadian corporate sponsors to support events?
Is the organizing committee considering the potential for CCWX media partner(s)?
Collaboration is a tenet of CCWX. A formal location to collaborate does not exist today, but CCWX Founding Members are working behind the scenes to connect organizations and individuals. For CCWX 2026, a formalized method will be created to help groups and individuals connect with speakers, venues, sponsorships and other resources.
Event organizers are welcome to locate sponsors for their own events, whether they are Canadian or not. However, the content of a CCWX event must focus on Canadian climate issues and solutions.
CCWX is open to media supporters or other types of support. For further inquiries and discussion, please contact info@ccwx.ca. Â
Topics and Audiences
Will you be targeting investors (in particular asset owners)?
Can we submit panel and activities ideas?Â
We are seeing variation in the topics and target audiences from the application submissions thus far, including events targeted towards investors. In subsequent years, CCWX will have a method to suggest topics and speaker interest to foster collaboration. As a start, here are topics expressed by the webinar participants:
Biodiversity
Biogas for energy
Climate resiliency and adaptation
Forest management and reforestation
Mandating reporting standards
Ocean fertilization
Regenerative solutions
Sustainable aviation fuels
Scope
Will CCWX complement the bi-annual Adaptation Canada conference?
Is there collaboration with other climate weeks in San Francisco, New York City, or London? Will you allot time for international discussion?
CCWX seeks to align with other events taking place within Canada. On the international front, CCWX does not seek to compete or detract from non-Canadian climate events. CCWX can bring unique Canadian climate-related content to international stages, and can provide a place for global climate content to be adapted and discussed in Canadian context at CCWX events.
